Windows 10 End-Of-Life

Microsoft has declared End of Support for Windows 10 from 14th October, 2025. After this date, the operating system will no longer receive updates.

What will happen?

  • No free software updates from Windows Update.
  • No Microsoft Technical Assistance.
  • No security fixes for Windows 10.
  • No new features or feature updates.
  • Windows 10 stands still.

Also on 14th October, 2025, Microsoft will stop support and updates on the following;

  • Microsoft Office 2016
  • Microsoft Office 2019
  • Microsoft Exchange 2016
  • Microsoft Exchange 2019

What are the risks?

 

Without these updates and features, daily significant risks could be encountered, such as;

  • Increased exposure to Cyber Threats such as Malware, Ransomware, etc.
  • Operational Inefficiencies.
  • Compliance Issues.

 

What are the challenges?

 

  • If you work in a regulated industry, using unsupported software could mean failing audits, or even fines in some circumstances.
  • Security breaches or compatibility issues could cause undue downtime, leading to business operational issues.
  • Requirements for running Windows 11 efficiently may need hardware to be upgraded or even replaced due to the stringent requirements.
  • Legacy software may have issues running on newer operating systems, updates to which may be costly in terms of updates or employee retraining.
